Drop in to play a game of chess with a casual community that meets the 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursdays of the month at Glen Park Branch Library and the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at Glen Park Canyon Recreation Center. Play chess at either or both locations, depending on what works for you.

Beginner to experienced players of all ages including kids (6 years plus), teens and adults are welcome to drop in to improve your memory and concentration or practice logical thinking skills. We will provide chess boards and pieces but not formal instruction.

This program is sponsored by Friends of the San Francisco Public Library.

Attending Programs

All programs are drop-in (no registration necessary) unless otherwise noted. All SFPL locations are wheelchair accessible. For accommodations (such as ASL), call (415) 557-4557 or contact accessibility@sfpl.org. Requesting at least 3 business days in advance will help ensure availability.
