Insights from a Carpenter and General Contractor
Wednesday, 2/5/2025
2:00 - 3:00

Learn about the day-to-day responsibilities and challenges of working in construction, gaining a deeper understanding of both the carpenter and general contractor roles. The session covers the core duties, tools, and techniques used in these professions, along with the skills and training needed to succeed in the industry.

Arcadia Maximo, an experienced general contractor, carpenter, and educator at City College of San Francisco, shares firsthand knowledge and practical advice. Arcadia discusses her personal journey, the challenges she’s overcome, and offers guidance for those interested in pursuing careers in construction—especially women entering the field.

Attendees also explore the future of the construction industry, including emerging trends and the skills required to thrive in the years ahead. After the presentation, the floor opens for a Q&A session, allowing participants to dive deeper into the profession, ask about career paths, and discuss what it takes to succeed in construction.

This is a valuable opportunity to learn directly from an industry expert and gain essential insights into the world of construction.
