Celebrate, Black History! It’s More Than Just A Month, with Asé Arts in a puppet-making workshop. Design a stick puppet that is uniquely you and celebrate with the Library the rich heritage of Black culture.
This workshop fosters a sense of identity and belonging through character design. It elevates the voices of authors and illustrators like Vanessa Brantley-Newton, E. B. Lewis, Nikkolas Smith, and Nikki Giovani. Connecting young artists with the visual stories of these writers and illustrators, we will celebrate the characters they bring to life in their books.
Asé Arts design studio, pronounced Ah Shay, utilizes the arts as a powerful tool to provoke thought, conversation & change. We build connections through the process of art making. Focused on fostering self expression, skill building, and creative exploration in our visual arts classes, workshops, and community engagement events.
