San Francisco relies on MUNI, BART, Caltrain and other transit operators to keep the city moving, and public transportation is essential for our environment, economy and quality of life.  But the financial outlook for transit post-pandemic is dire- and our region's biggest systems are facing immense budget challenges starting in 2026 as COVID relief funds are exhausted. Sebastain Petty from SPUR will talk about the funding crisis facing transit and what can be done to make sure that these systems not only survive but continue to grow, improve and evolve.

Sebastian Petty is a Senior Policy Advisor focused on transportation issues at SPUR, the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association.  Based in San Francisco, San José, and Oakland, SPUR is a nonprofit public policy organization that brings people together from across the political spectrum to develop solutions to the big problems cities face.  Sebastian has worked on transportation policy issues at SPUR for several years and previously held positions at Caltrain and the Presidio Trust.
