Join us and Legacy Film Festival on Aging for the first event of the 2026 season — 2 short films + Q&A with the filmmakers and cast

Bernal Heights Outdoor Cinema's long time Film Crawl partner, Legacy Film Festival on Aging, brings two films about seniors whose passion, continued sense of adventure and curiosity inspire us all.

21 Miles, 12 Feet and 439 Years: The Old Goats and the English Channel

In 2023, a group of senior, open-water swimmers from the Dolphin Club of San Francisco set out to swim the English Channel. They became the oldest American relay team to cross the English Channel, proving age is no barrier to following one's dreams and insipiring many with their dedication and achievement in the chilly bay waters.

I Never Was a Hippie, I Just Looked Like One

With wit, sarcasm and honest reflection, 85-year old San Francisco painter Hank Sultan narrates this short documentary about his life and his art and reveals how creativity, activism and family life can produce longevity and personal fulfillment.

Post-screening of both films, join filmmakers and cast for Q&A.
