Lecturer of Native American/American Indian Studies for CSU since 2016, Professor Steward specializes in the history of California and the local history and culture of the Bay Area and North Bay. Professor Steward is a tribal member of Elem Indian Colony of Pomo Indians of the Sulphur Bank Rancheria near Clearlake Oaks, CA. Paul grew up in his tribe’s traditional culture and music, and learned to play guitar as a teenager. He’s combined traditional Native music with contemporary music styles to make what he calls Native Beat.
