The San Francisco Public Library proudly launches its new reading series, featuring our city's first Youth Poet Laureates with established local poets. This special program, presented throughout the city's branch libraries, is curated by San Francisco's Poet Laureate, Genny Lim.

Youth poets Mahnaz Badhian, Claribel Caamal Amodei and Ava Perez will be speaking at the event.

About the Poets:

Claribel Caamal Amodei grew up in the Mission District and currently resides in the Inner Sunset. Her passion for writing began at a young age and she recalls completing her first book in second grade, which was dedicated to her love of birds. Inspired by her family, friends and the beautiful parks surrounding her, especially Golden Gate Park. Claribel's work reflects her connection to nature and her community. In addition to her poetry, she is in the process of writing a fictional novel series. In her free time, Claribel enjoys mountain bike racing, birdwatching and playing the piano.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Ava Perez is a student in high school who loves competition, whether that’s on the basketball court or on the debate team! Behind competition and writing, her second favorite thing to do is spending time with her 6 year old English bulldog, Coda. She also loves watching The Office and spending time with her older sister when she is home from college.
