Learn essential textile repair skills, including visible mending, patching and hand-stitching to upcycle your clothing and minimize textile waste in this mending workshop with instructor Lucy Ornelas of Youth Art Exchange. Participants are encouraged to bring their own textile item in need of repair. Area in need of repair is not to exceed palm-size. For ages 13–18. Space limited.

Lucy Ornelas is a San Francisco-based textile artist and instructor for YAX’s Fashion Design class. For 25 years, YAX, a non-profit organization dedicated to art education and youth development, has provided free, accessible after-school arts programs for Public High School students in San Francisco.

Our Library Youth Advisory Board (YAB) interns have been working hard all school year to plan multiple youth-centered programs. Come see what this year’s Youth Advisory Board interns have arranged for you.
