Jilanne Hoffmann is the author of the middle-grade novel HeartLand, a coming-of-age story in prose and verse that explores family, friendship, and environmental activism. HeartLand received a starred review from School Library Journal and was praised by Booklist, Kirkus Reviews, Publishers Weekly, and Shelf Awareness. Hoffmann is also the author of the picture books The Ocean's Heart: The Tiny Creatures Essential to Life and A River of Dust: The Life-Giving Link Between North Africa and the Amazon. She lives in San Francisco.

Leslie Kirk Campbell is the author of the short story collection The Man with Eight Pairs of Legs, winner of the 2020 Mary McCarthy Prize for Short Fiction, and the memoir Journey into Motherhood. She is the founder of Ripe Fruit Writing, a San Francisco creative writing program, and has taught writing for more than three decades.
