Reimagine the DJ as an archivist, selector, de/reconstructor and amplifier of music. How might a poet apply these approaches to words? Explore poems by mixing and remixing languages, voices, soundscapes and worlds. Build shared learning through example writings, conversatio, and exercises inspired by digging, remixing, sampling, scratching, blending and a deep love for music.

Open to all ages and writing backgrounds/experiences.

David Maduli is a Filipino American father, writer and educator. His work, often inflected by many years as a DJ and public school teacher, has received the Joy Harjo Poetry Prize. Born in San Francisco, he is the author of Alemany Bay Window / Redwood Coast Record Crate (Sampaguita Press, 2024) a dual poetry collection that documents the textures of his centenarian grandmother’s house in the Outer Mission as well as the liner notes and samples of vinyl records and sleeves.
