Listen and learn about director Alfred Hitchcock's special fondness for Northern California, from lifelong cinephile and a retired SFPL librarian, Jim Van Buskirk. In addition to filming locations from Rebecca in Monterey to Shadow of a Doubt in Santa Rosa, and including of course Vertigo, The Birds and Family Plot, Hitchcock established a beloved home in Scotts Valley. Through still images, discover how the iconic director used sites throughout the beautiful bay area in his meticulous cinematic masterpieces.

Jim Van Buskirk is the co-author (with Will Shank) of Celluloid San Francisco: The Film Lover’s Guide to Bay Area Movie Locations (2006).  Jim frequently presents programs on the representation of San Francisco icons in Hollywood movies.
