A celebration of Las Posadas with San Francisco Poet Laureate Genny Lim and visual artist and poet Adrian Arias. Las Posadas is derived from the Spanish word  posada, which means lodging. Las Posadas is typically celebrated each year from December 16th through December  24.

San Francisco Poet Laureate Genny Lim’s Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowship project, “Words Without Walls” is a multi-generational, community-building project exploring cross-disciplinary responses to poetry. These workshops, calendared in response to civic and cultural observances, are free and open to the public at SFPL’s branch libraries. Participants will discover how the languages of the arts can help free the written word beyond the page. The six workshop series will culminate in a performance at the San Francisco Main Public Library, featuring Lim, intergenerational poets, and collaborating artists.

Words Without Walls is made possible by the generous support of the Academy of American Poets and the Mellon Foundation.
