*Enduring Struggle, Enduring Spirits

Remembering Steve Abbott and Karl Tierney on World AIDS Day
Event detail
Add to my calendar
Steve Abbott and Karl Tierney were two gifted Bay Area writers connected in life by gay literary circles and in death by AIDS. Now two books celebrate their enduring spirits. Beautiful Aliens: A Steve Abbott Reader brings together a cross-section of poetry, fiction, collage, comics, essays, and autobiography. Have You Seen This Man? The Castro Poems of Karl Tierney is a time capsule of San Francisco that morphs from observation to humor to hunger to fear. Join the editors of both books, Jamie Townsend and Jim Cory, at a special World AIDS Day event organized by the late Kevin Killian.

Gather, share knowledge and celebrate our unique identities at the queerest library ever. Visit the James C. Hormel LGBTQIA Center, the gateway to the Library’s broader collections documenting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and allies’ history and culture, with a special emphasis on the San Francisco Bay Area.

This is a Reading, Writing & Poetry program from SFPL. We love reading/sharing/creating words.
