We also invite you to peruse our new Pride Recommended Reading lists, and check out a book, movie or music that reflects some aspect(s) of LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual/Ally) experience. There is more material being published and distributed--in both commercial and small presses--than ever before, and for all ages.

Pride Month honors, celebrates and remembers LGBTQIA individuals, communities, history, culture and political activism. Since its inception as an organized protest march in the wake of the 1969 riots at the Stonewall Inn in New York City following a police raid there on June 28, and the subsequent introduction of Gay Freedom Day in 1970, what is today known as Pride has come to span a month instead of a day; and includes parades, parties, and events in addition to protests.
