San Francisco Assessor Address/APN Index

Use this search tool to identify 105,000 photographic prints and negatives (arranged by address) in the San Francisco Office of the Assessor‑Recorder Photographs collection. Digitization of all photographic prints was completed in July 2026 with support from San Francisco Planning.

If you find a listing under Library Photo Box #/Library Bundle #, those photographs have been digitized and can be viewed through the San Francisco Property Information Map. Search by address and select “Historic Preservation” → “Property Photos” to see available images.

If the address includes a listing under Library Negative Box #, make a note of it. Negatives may be viewed in person during the Photo Desk open hours.

What the labels mean

Library Photo Box #: the numbered box where photographic prints are stored.
Library Bundle #: the envelope inside a Photo Box that holds the photographic prints for a range of addresses.
Library Negative Box #: the box that holds negative strips for addresses; negatives are viewable in person during Photo Desk open hours.

Tip: If a listing shows Library Photo Box/Bundle, the prints have been digitized—view them in the Property Information Map → Historic Preservation → Property Photos.
