Description

The rose colored glasses of memory always idealize one person from the past, with whom everything could've been perfect — if it hadn't gone so horribly wrong. Come and join us for a film that explores a friendship and love that gets its second chance. Can these women reclaim what they lost? And maybe get even more… Freshly single, Juliet has decided to take stock of her life and reorganize her priorities. At the top of her list is to see Julie again, her childhood friend who she hasn't spoken to in 15 years because of a misplaced kiss. Initially their relationship is strained, but they begin to reclaim their friendship, explore what went wrong, and try to make sense out of the chemistry and sexual tension boiling below the surface. Creating a memorable landscape that balances Quebec's natural splendor and the rustic charm of Julie's cottage, Jeanne Crépeau's directorial style shines in this debut feature. Cheeky and humorous animated vignettes keep this emotionally intense love story light. A modern romance — JULIE AND ME effectively looks at the underlying tensions in relationships and how they can add to and destroy intimacy.

Description

A young man leading a double life – a student by day, a street hustler by night – finds his worlds colliding when he is accused of murder. As a screenwriter, Ben Taylor has had five feature films and two television movies produced in Germany since 1992. He got the inspiration for In The Flesh, his directorial debut, while he was in Frankfurt working on another film and met a young man named Oliver who was working the streets. "Oliver was particularly fascinating," Taylor recalls, "because he wasn’t living on the streets; he was obviously a good-looking rich kid, a student doing this for reasons I never did figure out. Except in my imagination later." His imagination would end up taking Oliver all the way from Germany to Taylor's hometown of Atlanta, GA. Here, Oliver still plies his trade. But now he’s a wholesome looking all-American college boy with his own reasons for leading a double life, his own secrets to hide. Soon after Philip, a handsome older man, appears on the scene, he and Oliver find themselves caught up in murder, deception and an unexpected love. The story Taylor imagined turns out to be a fascinating thriller with echoes of Klute and The Crying Game – a film that entertains while telling its own truths about street kids, drug abuse, gay relationships and the importance of trust.
