Synopsis

Rene, Rene refers to the artist's great unrequited love for Rene, a cherubic young boy with whom the artist has been obsessively in love with since the first grade. Aside from sharing the same name, the two boys’ lives and sexual preferences couldn't have been more different. The video also looks at the origins of Broussard's attraction to fat boys and to the act of flagellation, while focussing on issues of abuse and molestation, which will play a key role throughout the video series of "The Fatboy Chronicles".

Synopsis

Hailed as the lesbian Big Chill, Sharon Pollack’s feature debut Everything Relative is actually a far cry from the 80’s Yuppie get-together film. Pollack’s film chronicles the rocky reunion of a group of women (all lesbians — except for one) who went to school together and performed in a political theater group during the 70’s. When the only long-standing couple out of the bunch has a baby, the friends reunite for the Bris and decide to spend the weekend at one of their old haunts, a secluded country house in Northampton. In between the softball games, and skinny-dipping at the lake, there’s a lot of processing to catch up on, not to mention romances to be rekindled. New moms Katie and Vick seem happily married, but one of them still can’t seem to make it out of the closet even with the baby in tow. Then there’s Josie, the writer in recovery, who’s still in love with Maria, who’s just lost her kids to her ex-husband, Gina, a former hooker who’s now a successful singer in Hollywood, has always had a thing for stuntwoman Luce, who’s dating baby dyke Candy, a twenty-something investment banker who never had to go through “coming out.” And let’s not forget Sarah, the straight girl who’s been trying to get pregnant, and is actually jealous of the lesbian moms. With irony, humor and a touch of nostalgia for the 70’s, Sharon Pollack’s fine cast of lesbian actresses shows us just how much our lives, our politics and our loves can change over the years.
