OverDrive has replaced Deliver Later with Suspend.

Instead of selecting a Deliver Later date, you’ll manually Unsuspend a hold when you're ready for it.

In the Libby app, if you already have holds, you’ll see a notice about this change on your Holds screen. If you don’t have any holds yet, you’ll see the new behavior the next time you suspend one. On the OverDrive library website , there won’t be a notice — just the updated experience.

What is digitalsf.org?

digitalsf.org is San Francisco Public Library's public access portal to its digitized and born-digital collections. It features tens of thousands of photographs, documents, ephemera, and other archival materials from SFPL's San Francisco History Center, LGBTQIA+ Center, Government Information Center, and Branch Libraries.

How can I download an image or other item?

There are a few different methods to download images.

There are currently seed lending libraries at Bayview , Merced , Ortega , Portola , Potrero and Sunset branches.
You can get a variety of seeds for free and save your seeds to bring back and replenish the collections!

You can use Tags however you want. Using a Tag instead of placing a hold on a title is good way to keep track of books you want to read or listen to later without impacting wait times.

Popular ways to use tags include:

-Books you want to read (see image)
-Books you're using for a research project
-Favorite books
-Book club reads
-Beach reads
-Audiobooks to listen to on a run or road trip
-Books you want to share with a friend

If your library account is active and your PIN/password is correct, try following:
-Open Libby.
-Tap the 3-bar menu at the bottom of the screen.
-Tap Manage Cards.
-Tap the 3 dots next to your SFPL card number.
-Tap Verify Card.
-Re-type your 14-digit card number and PIN/password (Reset PIN/password .)
-Tap Sign In.
-Look for the message, "Okay, you're signed in!" at the top of the screen.

Some archival materials and bound periodicals are located at a storage facility outside of the library and must be requested before visiting the Main Library, in order to give us time to retrieve them.  Please allow up to 72 hours for requests from the Magazines & Newspapers Center collection and up to 4 business days for requests from the San Francisco History Center and Book Arts & Special Collections.
