Volunteer at the Library!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Library! San Francisco Public Library's Volunteer Program includes a wide array of volunteer opportunities that meet the needs of our public library and its surrounding communities. SFPL includes the Main Library and 27 branch (neighborhood) libraries in all corners of the City.

For more information, please visit our Volunteer Services page.

If you inadvertently return an item that belongs to another library, please contact the location where you returned it ; such items are generally kept for 2 weeks to allow you time to retrieve them.

After 2 weeks, all items are sent back to the owning library. Please note that SFPL doesn't keep records of the titles we return to other library systems.

You can use a private, glass-enclosed study room suitable for 2-4 people. Info about where study rooms are located and how to use them is available on the library website.

You are responsible for all items borrowed on your library card. Please contact the library to discuss any discrepancies.
