Educational Content Curator for the San Francisco Opera, Cole Thomason-Redus, presents a historical and musical survey of 150 years of American opera. Major works including Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking, Philip Glass' Einstein on the Beach, and John Adam's Nixon in China will be discussed, alongside works that share similarities with the genre of musical theater, such as Scott Joplin's Treemonisha, Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, and Bernstein's Candide and Trouble in Tahiti.
