Hank Rosenfeld author of The Jive 95: An oral history of of America's greatest underground rock radio station KSAN San Francisco. Rosenfeld will discuss the life and musical history of Tom "Big Daddy" Donahue.

It was during 1967 to 1980, Donahue’s experiment was something never heard before. And what made it special was KSAN’s connection to the San Francisco community, to the generation and the culture. KSAN knew its audience because it was part of its audience: a new kind of American, turned onto fighting for peace during a time of war, for civil rights in the face of racism, for justice in a misguided society—seeking to be voices for change, for real good. “Big Daddy” Donahue blew the minds of old media with music played by freeform DJs spinning whatever the hell they liked:  rock, rhythm & blues, jazz, soul, classical, and new music so far out, they had to play the LP twice in a row for listeners to get it.
