A new and original electrifying work that pays homage to the life and words of Dr. Maya Angelou.

Set to original compositions by De’Vante Winn who was inspired by the sounds heard throughout Dr. Angelou's life, a small cast consisting of all Black women brings Maya Angelou’s poetic styling to life. Written by Leelee Jackson, DR. ANGELOU aims to reflect the lasting impact of her inspiring words and empowering voice through poetry, dance, and music.

Presented by the San Francisco African American Shakespeare Company (https://www.african-americanshakes.org/) in anticipation of the new monument to Dr. Angelou to be unveiled at the Main Library this fall.
