San Francisco Public Library Scores Big with New San Francisco 49ers Library Card

SAN FRANCISCO, October 25, 2023 – San Francisco Public Library (SFPL) is thrilled to announce the launch of a new San Francisco 49ers library card. This new card represents the unity of the San Francisco Bay Area community and its support for the local NFL team.

"The Niners have been an integral part of Bay Area pride for almost 80 years, and we’re excited to bring this card to the fans in our community,” says City Librarian Michael Lambert. “Like the ‘80s 49ers bomber jacket, this card is a classic, and I hope it inspires folks who may not be using the library to get their reading game on.”

The newest addition to SFPL’s collection of cards is a must-have for Niners fans of all ages. Patrons can pick up this card at any Library location. Fans who already have a library card can even swap their current one for this new one.

“The San Francisco Public Library’s 49ers-themed library card is a winning play for both football fans and book lovers,” says Ellie Caple, Director of Communications & Public Affairs for the San Francisco 49ers. “This is an exciting opportunity to promote literacy, celebrate the joy of reading, and bring the Bay Area community together.”

Apply online and then present a valid photo ID in-person at any SFPL location to receive a card.
