Enjoy an interactive reading from local Asian-American children’s book author Katrina Liu and peek into how her characters come to life. Liu writes modern stories for young children that reflect everyday Asian-American life. Her award-winning titles include Let’s Go on a Hike! and The Gratitude Jar. She also creates bilingual Chinese and English books designed for non-native speakers who want to bring Mandarin into their homes in an easy, approachable way.

After the reading, families are welcome to stay for a Q and A about how books are made. Liu will share what it’s like to self-publish, how she turned her ideas into stories and what others can do to publish their own book.

Katrina Liu is an American born Chinese and Taiwanese mom of two and an indie author living in San Francisco. Her mission is to bring more Asian characters into everyday stories and help families connect with language and culture through books.
