Herbie Hancock's Oscar-winning score jazzes up this tribute to bebop starring real life musician Dexter Gordon (1923 - 1990) as a fictional troubled American sax player in late 1950s Paris, and François Cluzet as the young man who idolizes him. Cast features an all-star lineup of real life musicians including Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Bobbie Hutcherson, and many others, as well as Martin Scorsese. Memorable for its depiction of period nightclubs and the solitude of an artist's life. Directed by Bertrand Tavernier. In English, with some subtitled French. Rotten Tomatoes rating of 96%.
