From ancient folklore to timeless works of art, these supernatural beings have captured human imagination for centuries. Discover how they continue to inspire awe, embody mystery, and serve as protectors—or threats—in our stories, songs, and culture today.

Presented by John Kouletsis, a docent for the School Programs and Community Speakers Program at the Asian Art Museum. An architect by training, he lived in Japan researching medieval domestic architecture before serving as Kaiser’s national chief architect. He has served on museum committees and on the board of the Society for Asian Art.
