A panel of local female entrepreneurs will share their journeys in becoming successful small business owners. Our panelists are:

Gayle Pirie, co-owner of Foreign Cinema restaurant in San Francisco. Along with her partner, John Clark, she is regarded as a “highly original talent and has been deeply involved in the competitive and innovative ferment of the San Francisco restaurant scene for over two decades.” She has co-authored three cookbooks, Country Egg, City Egg (2000), Bride and Groom Cookbook: Recipes for Cooking Together (2006), and The Foreign Cinema Cookbook: Recipes and Stories Under the Stars (2018). The restaurant's namesake cookbook was included in NPR's Best Books of 2018.

Carolyn Federman, Founder and Executive Director of The Charlie Cart Project, has worked in food education for more than a decade. Before founding the Charlie Cart Project in 2014, Carolyn led Alice Waters' Edible Schoolyard Project, developed programming with the Jamie Oliver Foundation, co-founded the Berkeley Food Institute, and co-produced UC Berkeley's Edible Education course with Michael Pollan. She is the author of New Favorites for New Cooks, 50 Delicious Recipes for Kids to Make, (TenSpeed Press, 2018).

Eileen Rinaldi is the owner and founder of Ritual Coffee.  After getting her degree in Religious Studies at Brown, she put San Francisco on the (coffee) map by opening her flagship cafe on Valencia St.  She did that way back in 2005, when San Franciscans were still swilling dark-roasted blends at grunge cafes.  Ritual now has 6 cafés and still roasts coffee in small batches here in San Francisco.

Antonia Kohl, owner of Tigerlily Perfumery, a San Francisco brick-and-mortar boutique and online shop dedicated entirely to artisan and niche perfumes, stocking a deep collection of US indies as well as hard-to-find cult favorites from around the world.

This is a Business & Personal Finance program from SFPL. This series brings you programs to enhance your financial well being and business skills.
