Arisa White and Laura Atkins share insights and experiences in co-writing Biddy Mason Speaks Up, second book in the Fighting for Justice Series and aimed at middle grade readers. Biddy Mason was an enslaved woman who won her freedom through the courts in Los Angeles. She was a midwife and plant healer, saved money to buy property, and became the richest woman in Los Angeles.

HERstory, celebration of Women’s History Month, honoring the contributions of women and the unique experience of being female today.

This is a Reading, Writing & Poetry program from SFPL. We love reading/sharing/creating words.
