The African music and Arts Village is an interactive, high-energy performance that takes participants on a journey back into the heart of ancient Africa through music and story. Baba Shibambo, a master South African percussionist, introduces attendees to traditional drums, marimbas and other indigenous instruments. African folktales from Shibambo's childhood are set to music and shared. Finally, we welcome the participants to the stage where they are given instruction and play easy-to-learn rhythms in a group ensemble setting.

Baba Shibambo is a South African multi-instrumentalist and international recording artist whose passion is to share and preserve his Zulu culture while promoting diversity. He toured internationally as a lead drummer/choreographer with the stage production IPITOMBI prior to coming to the US in 1993. Since that time, he has taught drumming and the Zulu culture in libraries, schools, summer camps senior/community centers throughout Arizona, California and the West Coast for over three decades.
