The Etching and Engraving Picture File features copyright-free illustrations from late 19th- and early 20th-century magazines and illustrated books. More than 95 percent are black-and-white engravings, organized by subject across more than 4,500 folders.
The Etching and Engraving Picture File Index (PDF) helps you find subjects of interest. Library staff can assist in retrieving files for you to view in the designated area—please bring a photo ID when requesting materials.
Patrons with a current library card may check out up to 12 images. Images can also be photographed or scanned in the Library. Once selections are made, Art and Music Center staff will prepare the materials in a designated envelope for checkout and return at the Center’s reference desk. Fines apply for late, damaged or lost items.
